How to fit transom tie-down straps

Strapping the boat's transom to the trailer for towing.

Harborwright sells the part only — we don't install it. These are general steps; your boat and the maker's manual come first. If you're not sure, have a marine shop fit it.

Safety: Check the straps before every tow. They don't replace the bow winch strap and safety chain.

Steps

  1. With the boat on the trailer, hook one strap's S-hook into each transom eye.
  2. Hook the other end to the trailer frame, one strap on each side.
  3. Ratchet each strap tight and lock the S-hook clasps.
  4. Release both straps before launching.

Follow the maker's manual for your exact model first — it's linked with each part below.
