How to install trailer post guide-ons

Bolting post guide-ons to the rear of a boat trailer.

Harborwright sells the part only — we don't install it. These are general steps; your boat and the maker's manual come first. If you're not sure, have a marine shop fit it.

Safety: Tighten every U-bolt nut and recheck them after the first few launches.

Steps

  1. Load the boat once and note where the hull sits. The guide-ons go at the back of the trailer, one each side.
  2. Fit the brackets to the frame with the U-bolts, on top of or below the frame, and snug the nuts.
  3. Fit the PVC posts and set the width so the posts sit just off the hull sides when the boat is centered.
  4. Tighten all nuts and check the posts clear the fenders and lights.
  5. Recheck the position after your next launch and retrieve.

Follow the maker's manual for your exact model first — it's linked with each part below.
