Harborwright sells the part only — we don't install it. These are general steps; your boat and the maker's manual come first. If you're not sure, have a marine shop fit it.
Safety: Only climb the ladder with the engine off and the propeller stopped.
Steps
- Pick a flat, solid spot on the swim platform or transom where the folded ladder clears the outboard or drive, trim tabs and steering, and where the extended ladder reaches well into the water.
- Hold the mounting brackets in place and mark the holes. Check underneath for wiring, fuel or water lines and hull structure before you drill.
- Drill the holes and bed each hole and bracket in marine sealant so water can't reach the core of the deck.
- Fasten with stainless hardware (the screws in the box or through-bolts with backing washers) and tighten evenly — don't crush the deck.
- Extend and fold the ladder a few times to check it moves freely, then keep it folded with the included bungee cord when under way.
- Rinse with fresh water after use in salt water.
