How to use a shore spike anchor

Driving a sand spike into the beach or sandbar and tying off a small boat.

Harborwright sells the part only — we don't install it. These are general steps; your boat and the maker's manual come first. If you're not sure, have a marine shop fit it.

Safety: Keep hands clear of the slide hammer, and check the spike is holding before you leave the boat.

Steps

  1. Pick firm sand or a riverbank above or at the waterline.
  2. Stand the spike upright and use the self-hammering handle to drive it deep.
  3. Tie your bow or stern line to the top ring or the side ring.
  4. Check it's holding by pulling on the line.
  5. To remove it, work the handle back and forth and pull straight up. Rinse after salt water.

Follow the instructions that come in the box for your exact model first.
