How to install a removable dock ladder

Fitting a lift-out aluminum ladder to a dock edge.

Harborwright sells the part only — we don't install it. These are general steps; your boat and the maker's manual come first. If you're not sure, have a marine shop fit it.

Safety: Check the water depth below the ladder and make sure it is locked in place before anyone climbs it.

Steps

  1. Assemble the rails and steps with the stainless hardware, following the VEVOR manual.
  2. Pick a dock edge with enough water depth and room for the ladder to hang straight down.
  3. Set the mounting brackets on the dock edge so the ladder hangs plumb, mark the holes and fasten into solid dock framing — not just the deck boards.
  4. Drop the ladder into the brackets and engage the quick-release lock. Test it with your weight from the dock before climbing from the water.
  5. Lift it out for winter, storms or when the dock isn't in use.

Follow the maker's manual for your exact model first — it's linked with each part below.
